Can we do permanent hair straightening during pregnancy?
My cousin's wedding is next month and i wanted to get my hair done. But thoda tension hai about the chemicals reaching baby. Im around 5 months now, is it safe or should i just wait?
Honestly, don't do it. No good salon will even agree to do a permanent straightening or keratin treatment for a pregnant woman because of the formaldehyde fumes. Just do regular blow-dry if you have an event, otherwise leave it natural for now.
I asked my gynac about this during my second trimester because my hair was a complete mess. She strictly said no to permanent straightening due to chemical absorption and strong fumes. I just managed with mild organic shampoos and got my straightening done 3 months postpartum!
Please avoid it completely. The chemicals used in permanent straightening are very strong and the fumes can be harmful for the baby. It is not worth taking any risk, just wait till delivery to be completely safe.
Better to wait for a few months dear. It is not very safe because of the strong chemicals and heat used. Your natural hair is beautiful, enjoy this phase first!
We go through so much to get here, so taking even a 1% risk is not advisable. The chemicals used can be absorbed through the scalp or inhaled. Pls protect your precious miracle and hold off on chemical treatments for now.
Mere ghar pe toh mumma ne flatly mana kar diya tha when I asked. She said these parlour treatments have too many chemicals. I just used to put warm coconut oil that my mom made, it kept my hair tame and healthy.
Beta, don't do all this chemical stuff now. These straightening creams have strong smells and chemicals that go inside the skin. If hair is frizzy, apply homemade curd and honey mask once a week, it will make hair soft naturally.
