I used to do planks regularly before and im only 9 weeks now. Want to stay active but not sure if core exercise is safe na. Doc visit is next week but thought i'll ask here meanwhile. Anyone continued planks?
I can only share that my doctor advised me to avoid planks because of the pressure on the abdominal wall. Please check with your own doctor about what is safe for you.
Planks can put a lot of pressure on your abdominal muscles, which might lead to diastasis recti later. While some fitness experts say modified planks are okay, it's absolutely best to get your gynac's green light first.
My MIL would have a heart attack if she saw me doing a plank during pregnancy! Honestly, I just stuck to basic walking because putting so much pressure on the stomach didn't feel right to me.
Please be extremely careful with any strenuous abdominal exercises like planks. Having gone through a miscarriage before, I preferred staying away from any core pressure and only did what my doctor explicitly allowed.
I just delivered a few months ago, and my fitness trainer had me stop regular planks after the first trimester. We switched to safer, modified core exercises to protect the baby and pelvic floor.
I used to love working out, but during my pregnancy, I stopped doing intense planks to avoid core strain. Looking back, it was a good decision to just stick to gentle walks.
