Im 8 weeks and used to do yoga regularly before. Want to continue but a bit scared about which poses to avoid in these early days. Did anyone keep doing it from the start?
Please be extremely careful in the first trimester. Since I had a miscarriage before, my doctor advised me to take complete rest and avoid any strenuous yoga or exercise in the early weeks. It is better to wait until you get the green light from your gynac.
My mother-in-law was completely against me doing any exercise or yoga in the early months, but my doctor said gentle breathing exercises and light walking are perfectly fine. I followed my doctor's advice and did only very mild stretches. Just consult your doctor first.
Yes, you can do yoga, but only gentle stretches. Avoid any poses that put pressure on your lower abdomen or involve twisting and deep backbends. It's always best to do it under a certified prenatal yoga instructor.
You are in such a beautiful, delicate phase right now, mama. Yoga can be wonderful for your mind, but please listen to your body and don't strain. Gentle breathing exercises (pranayama) are amazing to keep you calm and connected to your baby.
My hospital actually had a dedicated prenatal wellness department with certified physiotherapists. They custom-designed a very gentle yoga and stretching routine for my first trimester. I highly recommend asking your hospital staff or gynac before starting any class.
As a working mom, I barely had time, but I did 15 minutes of light prenatal yoga in the morning during my pregnancy. It really helped with my posture and stress. Just stick to basic, easy poses and don't push your body too hard.
I can only tell you what I did. I avoided yoga in my first trimester completely because I wanted to be extra careful, and only started mild prenatal yoga from the fourth month. Do what feels comfortable to your own body.
