I was a regular green tea drinker before, like 2 cups a day. Now that im pregnant i stopped completely but i kinda miss it. Is it okay to have it occasionally or better to avoid the whole 9 months?
In moderation, like a cup a day, it's generally fine. The catch is it counts toward your caffeine and it interferes with iron, so dont have it right with meals or iron tablets. I just kept it occasional.
Don't stress, a cup here and there is fine yaar. Just dont swap all your water for green tea and avoid it around your iron tablets. Keep it chill and occasional.
Green tea has caffeine, so it's about limiting total caffeine in a day, not cutting it like poison. One light cup is usually okay for most, but it can affect iron absorption. Best to confirm your daily limit with your gynac.
I was advised to be careful with caffeine because of my pregnancy issues, so I cut green tea down a lot. Everyone's case differs. If you've had any complications, please ask your doctor before making it a daily habit.
My pregnancy app actually tracks caffeine and green tea adds to that count along with coffee and chocolate. I kept the total low and had green tea only sometimes, away from my iron pill. Handy to keep an eye on the total.
