Everyone at ghar keeps saying papaya is a strict no during pregnancy and now im scared since i ate a little last week. Im 7 weeks. Is it really that bad or is it just one of those old beliefs?
Na na, kachha papaya toh bilkul nahi khaana chahiye pregnancy mein. Log kehte hain usse miscarriage ka risk hota hai. Pakka hua, ripe papaya, woh bhi thoda sa, kabhi kabhi kha sakte hain, but many people still avoid it just to be safe. Better hai ki avoid hi karo papaya totally, aur safe fruits khaao.
Generally, unripe or semi-ripe papaya is strongly advised against during pregnancy because it contains a latex substance called papain, which can induce uterine contractions and lead to premature labor or miscarriage. Ripe papaya, however, is often considered safe in moderation as it has significantly less papain. My doctor specifically said to avoid unripe completely, and only consume fully ripe, deseeded papaya in very small quantities if desired, but many prefer to avoid it altogether to eliminate any risk.
I felt so confused about papaya during my pregnancy, everyone had a different opinion! My MIL said no, my friend said ripe is okay. It made me so anxious. In the end, I just decided to not eat any papaya at all, because I didn't want any stress or risk. It's okay to make the choice that gives you peace of mind.
Nahi beti, kachha papaya toh bilkul nahi khaana. Usse dard shuru ho sakta hai. Pakka hua wala bhi, kuch log kehte hain theek hai, kuch kehte hain nahi. Meri maa toh bolti thi ki jo cheez pe shaq ho, woh mat khaao. Isliye maine toh bilkul nahi khaya tha. Angoor, seb khaao, woh zyada acche hain.
Beti, hamare zamane mein toh kachha papaya koi sochta bhi nahi tha khane ka. Log kehte hain usse garmi hoti hai aur bacche ko nuksaan ho sakta hai. Agar pakka hua, ekdum meetha papaya hai, toh thoda sa le sakte ho, but woh bhi dhyan se. Best hai ki safe side pe raho aur dusre phal khaao, jaise seb ya santra. Kyun risk lena?
Oh, papaya is one of those things that everyone warns you about during pregnancy. I avoided it completely, both ripe and unripe, just to be on the safe side. After my C-section, I was so careful about everything. There are so many other safe fruits to enjoy, it's not worth the worry. Better safe than sorry, I feel.
