We eat pork quite often at home and i had it last week too before i remembered to ask. now im a bit worried if its ok during pregnancy. is it safe if its cooked properly?
Yes, only if its cooked thoroughly. Avoid any cold cuts, ham or processed pork unless heated well. I had it occasionally, well cooked and fresh, no issues. Just be strict about it being fully cooked.
The main thing with pork is it has to be cooked all the way through, otherwise risk of infections that can harm pregnancy. I was extra careful and mostly avoided eating out for meat. If you have any doubt, ask your gynac about your diet.
You can eat pork but it must be fully cooked, no pink in the middle at all. Undercooked pork carries infection risk in pregnancy. So properly cooked is fine, raw or half done is a no. If unsure about a dish, just skip it.
