Acidity is killing me these days, used to take eno before pregnancy. Now im scared to have anything without checking. Is it safe or should i ask my doc first?
I had awful heartburn while pregnant and my first instinct was to reach for Eno, but I avoided it because of the high sodium levels. I found that sipping cold coconut water or eating a banana worked slowly but safely. Please try these natural ways first.
My doctor at the hospital strictly told me not to take Eno because of its high salt content. They prescribed a safe, mild antacid gel instead which was much better for my acid reflux. Always call your hospital helpdesk before taking any over-the-counter products.
I personally had Eno once or twice in my first trimester when my acidity was unbearable, but then my doc told me to avoid it due to the salt content. After that, I stuck to cold milk and simple jeera water, which worked fine for me.
Do not make a habit of drinking Eno during pregnancy. It might give quick relief but the high sodium is not good for your swelling or blood pressure. Eat smaller meals, don't lie down immediately after eating, and ask your doctor for a safe syrup.
Having PCOS made me prone to bloating and acidity anyway, so I was tempted to try Eno often. But since we need to be careful with our body's electrolyte balance, my dietician advised avoiding it. Stick to natural remedies and safe doctor-approved antacids.
Eno has a lot of sodium which can cause swelling in your feet and raise your blood pressure, so please avoid it. Instead, just drink a glass of cold milk or have a small bowl of curd, it works beautifully for pregnancy acidity and costs nothing.
I was extremely cautious about everything, so I completely avoided Eno and other fizz drinks during my pregnancy. Even for minor acidity, I would only take what my doctor specifically prescribed. It's better to be safe and avoid any risk for your baby.
My mother-in-law suggested drinking warm cumin (jeera) water or chewing fennel seeds for acidity, which is very safe. But for severe heartburn, my doctor said to avoid Eno and prescribed safe tablets. Do ask your gynac on your next visit.
