I usually prefer sleeping on my right side, but I've heard conflicting advice about sleeping positions during pregnancy. Is it safe to sleep on my right side, or should I definitely avoid it?
I am in my 2nd trimester and honestly I struggle with this so much! I keep rolling onto my right side and then I wake up panicking. Does this happen to anyone else here? Is it really that bad?
Beta, sleeping on the left side is considered very good for the baby. If your back hurts, try putting a soft rolled-up cotton sheet under your side. But if you have severe back pain or cannot sleep at all, ask your doctor.
Yes dear, you can absolutely sleep on the right side occasionally when your left side gets tired. I used to switch sides during my pregnancy because staying in one position is impossible. Just listen to your body and get rest while you can, because post-delivery sleep is a luxury!
Oh god, sleep however you can right now! Once the baby comes, you won't even care about left or right, you'll just want 5 minutes of sleep in any weird posture. Enjoy your bed while you still have it to yourself!
It is totally fine to change positions sometimes, don't stress. We already have so many expenses like hospital delivery bookings and expensive anomaly tests, so buying super costly pregnancy pillows is not needed. Just use normal home pillows for back support and save some cash.
In my 3rd trimester, sleeping feels like trying to park an SUV in a tight space anyway. Right, left, sitting up—I do whatever stops my ribs from aching for five minutes. Don't overthink it, just survive the night!
Left side is technically best for blood flow, but honestly, you can sleep on the right too. Just don't sleep flat on your back, that's what my doc told me. Keep a pillow between your knees and you are good to go.
