Can we travel in flight during 7th month of pregnancy?
I have to go to my parents place and its a flight journey. Im entering 7th month. Is flying safe at this point or should i avoid? Planning to ask my doc also but wanted ur experiences first.
Yes, flying in the 7th month is generally allowed by airlines, but you must check their specific cutoff weeks and get a signed medical clearance certificate from your gynac. Book an aisle seat so you can stretch your legs and walk around every 45 minutes to prevent swelling. Keep your doctor's number on speed dial just in case.
If you are carrying twins like I did, flying in the 7th month is a big no-no as the risk of early labor is much higher. But for a single pregnancy, it's doable with your doctor's green light. Just be prepared to get some funny looks from passengers who think you might deliver mid-air, haha!
You can fly in your 7th month, but you'll definitely need a 'fit to fly' certificate from your gynac. Since I had gestational diabetes, I had to pack my own healthy sugar-free snacks and nuts for the flight to avoid airport junk food. Just make sure to stay hydrated during the journey.
I am planning my pregnancy soon and this is a question I've also been wondering about! I travel a lot for work, so hearing how others managed flight travel in their third trimester is super helpful and reassuring.
According to my pregnancy tracker, the 7th month is usually the last safe window for air travel before most airlines restrict it. Make sure to download your airline's guidelines on pregnant passengers and carry your latest medical reports. Wear compression socks to help with blood circulation on the flight!
I flew at 29 weeks for my baby shower and it was quite smooth, but I had to show my gynac's clearance certificate at the check-in counter. Honestly, the flight was fine, but walking through the huge airport terminals was very tiring, so don't hesitate to ask for wheelchair assistance if needed.
Beta, try to avoid unnecessary travel in the late months, but if it is very important, ask your doctor first. Carry some dry ginger or small raisins to chew on if you feel dizzy or nauseous during takeoff. Take someone along with you and don't lift any heavy bags yourself.
