I love brinjal sabzi, but some elders in the family say it's not good during pregnancy. I'm a bit confused. Can I eat brinjal or is it better to avoid it?
Ghar pe sab bolte hain to avoid baingan because it's 'hot', but honestly small portions in sabzi are totally fine. Just cook it nicely and don't eat it daily if you are worried.
I ate baingan bharta so many times when I was pregnant because of cravings! Nothing happened to me, just make sure it's cooked thoroughly and washed properly to avoid infections.
Actually, brinjal contains phytohormones which some people believe can trigger periods if eaten in huge amounts. But my gynac said a little bit of well-cooked brinjal now and then is perfectly safe. Just don't eat it raw or half-cooked.
Uff I am in my 3rd trimester and honestly, baby is sitting on my stomach so even water gives me gas. Brinjal can cause acidity so I stay away, otherwise my acidity will kill me lol.
Oh I was wondering about this too! My MIL says to avoid brinjal completely but my friend ate baingan bharta throughout her pregnancy. What does your doctor say about this?
I had thyroid issues so I was super careful with my diet and always checked with my doctor before eating anything unusual. Better to ask your gynac once during your regular monthly checkups just to be safe.
I think moderation is key for everything. I eat small portions of grilled brinjal sometimes for fiber, but I also make sure to walk for 30 mins daily to keep my digestion active. Of course, do what your doc recommends.
