There was ripe papaya at home and i had a few pieces before remembering all the warnings. Now im a bit worried. Is it really that bad or only the raw one? pls share.
My elders strictly said no papaya, especially raw. I just avoided it the whole time and ate apple, banana, pomegranate instead. If you really crave it, ask your doctor first na, don't go by random advice.
I personally avoided papaya completely during pregnancy because of my past, just didn't want to take any chance. The raw one is the real concern. Talk to your doctor, but there are so many other safe fruits anyway.
Beta in our families we always tell pregnant women to avoid papaya, specially the raw green one, it's an old caution. Ripe one some allow in little quantity. I'd say skip it just for peace of mind and eat other fruits.
Ripe papaya in small amount is generally considered okay, it's the raw or semi ripe green papaya that everyone warns against. To be safe many of us just avoid it fully during pregnancy. Ask your gynac to be sure.
The concern is mainly with raw/unripe papaya. Fully ripe in small quantity is usually said to be fine, but honestly opinions vary, so the safest is to ask your own gynac and follow what she says for you.
