Can you take nitrofurantoin during early pregnancy?

Doctor suspects a uti and mentioned this medicine but im only 6 weeks so im a little nervous about taking anything this early. Did any of you take it in early pregnancy? want to understand others experience before my next visit.

From what I understand it's sometimes used for UTIs in pregnancy but the timing and your stage matter, and that's for the doctor to decide. Never self prescribe antibiotics, the choice changes based on trimester. Please get it from your own gynac.

This is an antibiotic so please only take it if your gynac prescribed it for you specifically. I had a UTI in pregnancy and my doctor chose a safe antibiotic and dose for me. Dont take leftover or someone else's medicine, always get it prescribed.

Honestly this isnt something to decide from a forum, antibiotics in pregnancy are picked carefully by the doctor based on your situation. If you have an infection, see your gynac and they'll prescribe what's safe. Dont take it on your own.
