I developed gallstones during my pregnancy, and it has been quite uncomfortable. I'm wondering if gallstones typically go away on their own after delivery. Has anyone experienced this?
Mujhe bhi delivery ke baad pet me dard rehta tha, toh doctor ne bataya ki pit ki thaili me pathri hai. Unhone thoda parhez bataya aur dheere dheere dard kam ho gaya. Aap thoda dhyan rakho aur halka khana khao, sab theek ho jayega.
I felt such a horrible, sharp pain under my ribs during the 3rd trimester and found out it was gallstones. After delivery, my doctor did another scan and thankfully they had shrunk, but I was so scared. It was a very emotional ride for me, but things did get better.
Gallstones can cause severe complications and extreme pain if they block the duct. I had a really tough time with gallbladder pain during my postpartum phase, so please don't wait for them to go away on their own. Get a proper ultrasound done and let your doctor decide the treatment.
I can't say if they always go away, but in my personal experience, my gallstones did not disappear after my baby was born. I had to manage my diet very strictly for a few months post-delivery and eventually got a small laparoscopic surgery done. It was quite manageable though.
Sometimes pregnancy-induced gallbladder sludge or small stones can resolve on their own postpartum, but actual gallstones usually remain. The best approach is to get a follow-up ultrasound 6 to 12 weeks after delivery. Your doctor can evaluate whether you need dietary changes or medical intervention.
