Do stretch marks happen during or after pregnancy?
Im 7 months and still no marks on my pet, so wondering when do they actually show up. During the pregnancy itself or mostly after delivery? curious to know when u all started getting them.
In my experience, stretch marks mostly show up in the third trimester when the skin expands rapidly, but they can become more visible after delivery when the skin shrinks back. With my PCOS history, my skin was already prone to hormonal changes, so I just kept it well moisturized without expecting miracles.
I am planning my pregnancy and honestly, I am so scared of getting stretch marks! Is it true that if your mother got them, you will definitely get them too? I should start looking for good affordable body butter soon.
They mostly happen in the late months of pregnancy, but don't waste thousands of rupees on expensive brand creams or luxury hospital salon packages! Regular bio-oil, generic moisturizer, or even simple coconut oil from the local shop works exactly the same way to keep skin hydrated.
Most stretch marks appear during the third trimester, but if you experience extreme, unbearable itching on your belly or palms, please don't just dismiss it as stretching. Let your doctor know immediately because it could be a sign of a liver issue called cholestasis.
My mother advised me to apply pure coconut oil on my belly from the first trimester to prevent itching and stretching. While it didn't completely stop the marks, it kept my skin very soft and comfortable. Ultimately, stretch marks are genetic, so don't stress about them too much.
They usually show up during the final months when the baby gets heavy, and then fade from red/purple to silver-white after delivery. Don't worry too much about them, they are just your tiger stripes! Apply a good thick moisturizer twice a day to ease the itchiness.
