My scan report mentioned cervix length and I started reading too much online. I dont understand if it changes or should stay same. Anyone had cervical length monitored in pregnancy?
It doesnt grow longer. Normally it holds steady and only softens and shortens near the end when labour approaches. Your gynac keeps an eye on it, nothing for you to measure yourself.
My doctor explained that the cervix doesnt really increase, it stays a certain length and then starts to shorten as you near delivery. They actually measure it in scans to make sure its not shortening too early.
I saw cervical length in my scan report and didnt understand it. From what doc told me it should stay long, not increase. Did anyone else get this measured? made me a little nervous.
Short answer no, it doesnt increase. It mainly stays put and then thins out closer to delivery. If you have a specific report concern, your gynac is the right person to explain your numbers.
In my pregnancy my cervix was shortening early so I needed extra monitoring and rest. So its more about it staying long enough, not increasing. If your doc is checking cervical length, just follow their advice closely.
