I'm in my early pregnancy and usually, I have some discharge. But recently, it seems to have reduced. Does discharge stop or change significantly during pregnancy? Is this normal?
Actually, discharge doesn't stop, it actually increases during pregnancy to protect the womb from infections. Since I had thyroid issues, I was always visiting my doctor and I asked her about this. Make sure you bring it up in your regular follow-ups just to be sure.
Stop? Haha, I wish! Honestly, I felt like I was wearing panty liners throughout my entire pregnancy because the discharge actually increased. It's just one of those lovely hormonal perks we don't get warned about enough.
I did some research and my doctor also confirmed that increased discharge (called leukorrhea) is very common and normal. It's basically the body's way of keeping the cervix clean. But if it changes color to yellow or green, or if you feel any burning, call your gynac.
Vaginal discharge definitely doesn't stop; in fact, it increases because of high estrogen levels. As long as it's clear or white and doesn't smell bad or cause itching, it's completely normal. If there's any itching, you must consult your gynac.
