Does health insurance cover pre existing pregnancy?
we found out im pregnant before taking any maternity cover and now realising it might be too late. does any policy cover pregnancy thats already existing? if anyone has dealt with this pls guide, totally lost.
I am planning to conceive soon and currently researching this exact insurance thing. It seems we need to buy maternity insurance way in advance bcoz of the waiting periods. Have you found any plan that covers it immediately?
Most private insurers have a 2 to 4-year waiting period for maternity, so pre-existing pregnancy is hard to cover. Check your corporate group policy if you have one, they cover it. Otherwise, start planning your monthly savings for delivery costs right away.
Listen, if you are already pregnant, standard individual health insurance won't cover it bcoz of the waiting period. Only corporate insurance from your or your husband's employer covers it from day one. Check your policy document carefully.
We faced the same issue when I was pregnant and we were so stressed about the high hospital bills. But actually, we spoke to our hospital and got a prepay package which made it much more manageable. Don't worry, just plan your budget properly.
Usually, corporate policies might cover it, but individual plans rarely do. Since healthcare is so crucial right now, please check with your doctor's billing desk or your insurance agent directly to understand what is covered.
Dealing with insurance calls while dealing with morning sickness is the absolute worst! Honestly, most individual plans don't cover existing pregnancy. If you have corporate cover, you are saved, otherwise get ready to break a small piggy bank!
Hamare time pe we didn't have corporate insurance, and normal insurance refused to pay bcoz I was already pregnant. It is better to talk to the hospital staff directly. They can help you with some discount packages for delivery.
