My thyroid came out on the higher side in my blood test and now im worried what it means for baby. Doc has called me for a follow up but the wait is making me anxious. Anyone dealt with this during pregnancy?
Yes it can, so it really needs to be controlled. I had thyroid issues and my doctor adjusted my dose and tested me regularly through pregnancy. As long as its monitored and managed well, things go fine, mine did. Just dont skip those follow ups.
My gynac explained that uncontrolled thyroid, whether high or low, can affect the baby and the pregnancy, which is why they test it. But once its managed with medication and regular monitoring, the risk goes down a lot. Keep up with the blood tests they ask.
Dont panic beta, so many women have thyroid and deliver perfectly healthy babies. The key is just to take ur medicine on time and do the tests when doctor says. You will be fine with proper care.
Please dont take thyroid casually in pregnancy. Mine needed close watching and dose changes more than once. Definitely stay in touch with both ur gynac and an endocrinologist if they suggest one.
