This is a hormone medicine and not something to take or judge on your own. Whatever it does depends fully on why your doctor gave it. Please clear all your doubts with her, not online.
With my PCOS my doctor prescribed certain hormone tablets at times, but only she decided when and how. I would never assume it does the same for everyone. Best to ask your gynac directly about your case.
