My MIL keeps telling me to avoid papaya completely and now im a little scared because i ate some last week not knowing im pregnant. Im about 6 weeks. Is there actually truth to this or just an old belief?
Ripe papaya in normal amounts is fine, but raw or semi ripe papaya is traditionally avoided because it may cause contractions. It does not magically remove a pregnancy though, that's a myth. If you have any real concern about your pregnancy, please speak to your gynac, not rely on food.
Beta, our elders always said to avoid raw papaya in pregnancy, only the well ripe one in small amounts. But it does not end a pregnancy as some people scare, that's just talk. For anything serious about your pregnancy, only the doctor should guide you.
Please dont believe food can terminate a pregnancy, that's not how it works and chasing such ideas can be dangerous. If you're trying to figure out your pregnancy status or have worries, see a doctor properly. They are the right people for this.
