Never had skin issues before but since this pregnancy my hands and arms have these dry itchy patches that wont stop. Does this kind of eczema settle after delivery or is it permanent? so frustrating yaar.
My doc said pregnancy can trigger or worsen eczema due to hormones and it often improves after delivery, but not for everyone. She gave me a pregnancy safe moisturiser and avoided steroid creams. Please dont self medicate, get it checked.
Mine flared up badly in second trimester. It did calm down after delivery but please see a dermatologist or your gynac, dont just use random creams. Some creams are not safe in pregnancy so get the right one prescribed.
Keeping the skin really moisturised helped me, plain unscented moisturiser and avoiding hot water baths. For mild dryness thats fine, but if its really red, oozing or spreading, dont wait, show the doctor.
It often eases up once the baby is born and hormones settle, so dont lose heart. Meanwhile keep skin moisturised and let a doctor pick a safe cream for you. You will be okay.
I felt so frustrated with the itching, it really got me down some days. For me it slowly settled after the baby came as hormones balanced out. Hang in there, and do show it to your doctor for safe relief.
