My husband is a bit older than me, around 40, and we are planning for a baby now. Everyone talks about the woman's age but i was wondering if his age matters too for conceiving or for the baby. Genuinely curious if anyone knows.
Honestly people put all the focus on the woman, but male factor matters too. Age can affect sperm health gradually. A simple test for him during planning clears a lot, ask your doctor.
I had this same question when we started planning. From what I gathered, men's fertility does decline slowly with age but later than women's. Good to get both checked I guess.
Yes our doctor said male age does play a role, sperm quality can change with age though less dramatically than female age. She suggested my husband also get basic tests when we were planning. So its worth both getting checked, not just the woman.
