I have hypothyroid since 2 yrs and on medicine. now that im pregnant im a little tensed whether it can affect the baby's growth or anything. anyone here with thyroid who had a healthy pregnancy? pls share.
I had thyroid through my pregnancy and the key was regular monitoring and taking the medicine exactly on time, empty stomach. Once it was controlled my baby was perfectly fine. Please do your TSH tests on schedule, that follow up is everything.
My doctor explained that uncontrolled thyroid can affect the baby's development, which is why they adjust the dose during pregnancy. With proper treatment the risk drops a lot. She tested my levels every few weeks to keep it in range.
I had both PCOS and borderline thyroid, so I was extra careful with checkups. Dont panic, just dont skip the medicine or the tests. Controlled thyroid usually means a healthy baby, but let the doctor manage the dose.
