The kit detects the hormone hcg in your urine, which your body makes once pregnant. The control line tells you it is working, the second line means hcg is present, so positive. Simple and reliable with morning urine.
My doctor explained it picks up hcg which rises after the embryo implants. That is why testing too early can miss it, the hormone needs to build up enough. First morning urine has the highest concentration.
