Doc asked me to get a blood test done to confirm instead of just the home kit. Im curious how the blood test actually picks it up and is it more accurate than the strip. Bit nervous waiting for the result honestly.
It is the beta hcg test, costs a few hundred rupees at most labs. It detects pregnancy earlier than the strip, so worth it if you cant wait. Just compare a couple of nearby labs for the rate.
The blood test measures the hcg hormone which your body makes once the embryo implants. My doctor said it can pick it up earlier and more precisely than a urine strip, around 8 to 10 days after conception. The number also tells roughly how the levels are progressing.
Basically they draw a little blood and check for the pregnancy hormone hcg. It is more sensitive than the home strips so it catches it earlier. No fasting needed, very quick procedure.
