This is my first pregnancy and im so confused about the week counting. My last period date and what the scan says feels different to me. Can someone explain how it actually works? i keep getting muddled up.
Dont worry about doing it perfectly yourself. Just tell ur doctor the date ur last period began and the scan will confirm everything. They handle the calculation, you just relax.
Take the first day of ur last period, count the weeks from there till today. Thats ur week. Full term is around 40 weeks counted this way, not from the day you actually conceived.
Doctors count from the first day of ur last period, not from conception, thats why u already seem 2 weeks along when u conceive. My gynac confirmed the dates with the early scan. So note down ur LMP date, thats the starting point.
I was so confused by this too at first, like how am I 5 weeks when I just found out. Turns out they count from last period. The dating scan will give the most accurate week so dont stress over the maths.
I just put my last period start date in a pregnancy app and it counted the weeks for me automatically. Super easy. The scan later adjusted it slightly but it was close.
