I was figuring this out recently too. They told me wait till the period date passes, then use a home kit. If its faint or confusing, a blood test is more sure. Then a doctor visit to be safe.
Beta first sign is usually missed period, then tiredness or nausea. Buy a simple test strip, do it with first morning urine. If two lines come, go meet a lady doctor to confirm properly.

Easiest way, if ur period is late by a few days take a home pregnancy kit with morning urine. If it shows positive or u r still unsure, get a blood test (beta hcg) and see a gynac to confirm.
