I just found out im pregnant and everyone keeps asking how many weeks i am, but honestly im confused how to even count it. My periods were a little irregular too. Can someone explain how this works?
My gynac explained pregnancy is measured in 40 weeks starting from your last period date, divided into 3 trimesters. If your cycles are irregular, the early ultrasound gives the most accurate week. I just trusted the scan.
This confused me so much at first honestly. Once I learned its from the last period date and not the conception day, it made sense. The scan number is the one I finally went by.
Its counted from the first day of your last menstrual period, not from conception. Thats the standard. Your dating scan early on also confirms the exact weeks, so dont stress if your dates feel off.
Easiest way, count from the first day of your last period, thats how doctors do it too. So you are already 2 weeks pregnant by the time u conceive technically, weird but true. Any pregnancy app calculates it for u once u enter that date.
