How common are false positive syphilis test in pregnancy?
My routine pregnancy bloodwork came with a positive syphilis screening and im honestly shaken, not even sure how. Doctor said they will repeat it but ive read false positives can happen in pregnancy. Has anyone here gone thru this whole confirmation process?
These initial tests can occasionally be falsely positive, its known to happen. The doctor always confirms with a second specific test. Best to discuss your exact reports with your gynac rather than worry.
My doctor explained that the screening test can sometimes show a false positive, and pregnancy itself can cause it. Thats why they do a confirmatory test before anything is concluded. So please dont panic on the first result, ask for the confirmatory test.
