Im in my second trimester now and feeling hungrier than usual, eating way more than before. Trying to understand how many extra calories my body actually needs so im not just eating randomly. Would love to hear how u all managed ur diet.
Honestly the tiredness is real, especially juggling work. I kept handy snacks like nuts, fruit and curd at my desk so I wasnt running on empty. The body needs more fuel later on, just keep it nutritious and steady through the day.
Your body is literally building a human plus making extra blood, so yes energy needs go up, mostly later in pregnancy. It's not eating for two though, that's a myth. Small frequent nutritious meals work better than huge plates.
What helped me is balancing the extra energy intake with light movement, my doc cleared me for walks and gentle prenatal yoga. You feel more tired because the body works harder, so good carbs, protein and iron rich food really matter.
My doctor explained that in the first trimester you barely need extra calories, but in the second and third you need roughly a few hundred extra a day to support the baby's growth. She stressed quality over quantity, like dal, eggs, fruits and milk rather than just eating more junk.
