I have an allergy issue and doctor mentioned steroid treatment if it gets worse. I am worried how it may affect baby. Anyone here had to take steroids while pregnant under doctor care?
I dont feel right giving an answer on this since steroids are serious medicine. I had my own health issues and learnt never to assume with meds. Please ask the doctor who prescribed it exactly how it affects your pregnancy.
Anything to do with medicines in pregnancy I always ran past my doctor, even my thyroid meds were adjusted carefully. For steroids definitely have a proper talk and regular follow up with your gynac, dont guess on this one.
Please dont take any steroids on your own. In my pregnancy the doctor did give a course for a specific reason and it was carefully monitored. Some steroids are even used to help baby lungs in preterm cases. It totally depends on type and why, so only your doctor can guide this.
This isnt something to take advice on from a forum honestly. Steroids can be necessary and safe when a doctor prescribes for a reason, or risky if misused. Get a clear explanation from your treating doctor for your specific situation.
From what my doctor explained, there are different steroids. Some are given intentionally in pregnancy, like to mature baby lungs before early delivery, under supervision. Others may have risks. The whole thing is very case specific so this really is a doctor conversation, not a general answer.
