My gynac mentioned they'll test me for GBS later and now im a little worried. I had never even heard of it before this. Just trying to understand where it comes from, anyone been through this?
Its not something you get from outside, a lot of women carry these bacteria naturally without symptoms. Thats why theres a routine test around 36 weeks. If you test positive its easily managed with antibiotics during labour, so its handled well.
GBS is a bacteria that some women just naturally carry in the body, it is not from doing anything wrong. My doctor explained it is very common and they do a swab test in the last weeks. If positive they give antibiotics during delivery to protect baby.
I read about this and got worried too. Did anyone here test positive? From what my doctor said its just bacteria the body carries naturally and they manage it in labour, but I still feel nervous about the test honestly.
I tested positive for GBS and honestly panicked first. But my gynac said its common and you dont catch it, body just carries it. They gave me antibiotics in labour and my delivery went totally normal. Dont worry too much.
