Just found out im pregnant and the dates are confusing me because my cycle isnt very regular. I keep trying to figure out the exact day it happened. how do you actually know when conception was?
You usually conceive around ovulation, about 2 weeks after your last period began if your cycle is regular. Honestly most of us never know the exact day. The early ultrasound dates it better than any guessing.
Doctors usually count from the first day of your last period, not the actual conception date, which is a bit confusing. Real conception happens around ovulation, roughly two weeks after your period starts. My gynac said the dating scan is the most accurate way to pin it down.
I always found this confusing too, the doctor counts from last period but you actually conceive later. Tracking ovulation gives you the closest guess. Good question, i learnt a lot from these replies.
I tracked my ovulation on an app so i had a rough idea of my conception window. It estimates based on your cycle and fertile days. But the first scan corrected my dates by a few days, so the scan wins.
