How does alcohol affect pregnancy in the first trimester?
I didnt know I was pregnant and had a couple of drinks at a wedding around 5 weeks. Cant stop feeling guilty about it now. How much does it really affect the baby this early? Planning to tell my doc but wanted to hear from others first.
I had a glass before i knew i was pregnant and i panicked so much. My doctor reassured me and said just stop now and dont worry about the past. So if thats your case, breathe, and avoid it going forward.
From what i understood, it is best avoided throughout, the first trimester being most sensitive. Every doctor i read agreed on that. If something has already happened, dont panic, just talk to your doctor.
My doctor was clear that there is no known safe amount of alcohol in pregnancy, especially first trimester when organs are forming. She advised avoiding it completely. If you have any concern about past intake, just discuss it openly with your gynac.
