My gynac started me on duphaston after my positive test and im 7 weeks now. She said its to support the pregnancy but i didnt fully understand what it does. Can someone who took it explain a bit?
I was on it during my IVF journey, it's a progesterone support and the doctors give it to help the pregnancy hold steady in early weeks. I wont go into doses because it's totally case by case. Just take it exactly as your doctor prescribed and dont stop on your own, that part is important.
I was given progesterone support after some early spotting. It helped me but please dont self decide anything about it, not the dose, not stopping it. Only your doctor should guide this one, it's prescribed for a reason.
With my PCOS history my doctor had put me on progesterone support too. It basically helps support the lining and the early pregnancy. But honestly every prescription is different, so please follow your own doctor's instructions rather than comparing with mine.
My gynac told me it's a form of progesterone, the hormone that helps maintain pregnancy especially early on when levels need support. She was clear that the dose and duration depend on your individual case. So take it as written and ask her any timing doubts.
