I got my tubes tied after my second baby, doc said its permanent. Now my period is 2 weeks late and im scared. Just trying to understand how it can even happen after ligation, has it happened to anyone here?
It can happen rarely, my doctor explained that sometimes the tubes can reconnect on their own or there's a small gap left, so pregnancy is possible even after ligation. Its not common but not impossible either. If you suspect you're pregnant, do a test and see the gynac soon because tubal ligation pregnancies can sometimes be ectopic.
No method is 100 percent, even ligation has a tiny failure rate. It happens but its rare. Best thing is take a test and confirm with ultrasound, dont just assume.
Try not to panic. It does happen occasionally that pregnancy occurs even after the procedure, the body sometimes finds a way. The important step now is just to get a proper checkup so the doctor can confirm everything is fine and in the right place.
Please dont delay seeing a doctor if you think you might be pregnant after ligation. The concern is ectopic pregnancy which needs quick attention. Im not saying to scare you, just get it checked properly with a scan.
