My doctor gave progesterone support after spotting and I didnt ask many questions because I was scared. Now I want to understand what it does in pregnancy. Did anyone else take it in early weeks?
My doctor explained progesterone is the hormone that prepares and maintains the uterus lining so the embryo can stay implanted. It also keeps the uterus relaxed so it doesnt contract too early. Thats why some women get prescribed support if their levels are low.
From what i understand it supports the early pregnancy and keeps things stable. With my history i was told not to start or stop any progesterone on my own, only as the doctor decides after checking levels. So pls dont self medicate it.
In my IVF i was on progesterone support and the doctor said it basically helps hold the pregnancy and keeps the lining healthy for baby. It can make u feel a bit tired and bloated honestly, but it was doing an important job.
Think of progesterone as the hormone that keeps the home cosy for baby, it maintains the lining and stops early contractions. Levels rise naturally in pregnancy. If yours are low the gynac decides on support, dont take it without prescription.
