How early can detect pregnancy ultrasound?

I got my positive home test last week and now im wondering when to actually go for a scan. Dont want to go too early and not see anything na. When did your first ultrasound show something?

Mine showed the heartbeat at 7 weeks, waiting a bit is worth it.

I went at 5 weeks and they couldnt see much, I got so worried thinking something was wrong. Then at 7 weeks the heartbeat was there and I cried happy tears. Did anyone else have a too early scan that showed little?

My doctor said the early transvaginal scan can usually see the sac around 5 weeks and the heartbeat around 6 to 7 weeks. Going too early may show nothing and just cause worry. She advised me to wait till about 6 to 7 weeks for a clearer picture.

Around 6 weeks onwards is when it becomes meaningful, before that its often too soon. The early internal scan picks up things better than abdominal at that stage. Dont rush in, wait for the date your gynac gives.
