How is a cervical exam performed during pregnancy?
My next appointment my doc said she might do a cervical check and honestly im a little nervous not knowing what to expect. Does it hurt? Just want to mentally prepare myself, pls share.
I was nervous before mine but honestly it was over in like a minute. I felt a bit of pressure, not really painful. The nurse kept talking to me and that helped me relax.
Its a simple internal exam the doctor does towards the end to check if labour is starting. Slightly uncomfortable but very quick. Just breathe and relax ur body, it makes it easier.
Nothing to fear dear. The doctor just checks the cervix gently with her hand, takes barely a moment. If u feel anxious just tell her, they are used to it and will go easy.
At my hospital the doctor explained each step before doing it which made me comfortable. Dont hesitate to ask ur gynac to walk u through it. They do this daily and will answer any question u have.
My doctor explained its a quick internal check, she gently uses gloved fingers to feel the cervix to see if its softening or opening near the end. It only takes a minute or so. She said its routine in late pregnancy to check progress.
