Doc mentioned a screening for down syndrome at my next visit and i dont really know what it involves. Is it a blood test or scan or both? First pregnancy so all this is new for me, pls explain how it goes.

My doctor explained there is a first trimester scan with a blood test around 11-13 weeks, called the double marker plus NT scan. There is also a more detailed blood test option she mentioned. She walked me through which suited my age and history.
There are screening tests done in the first and second trimester, mix of blood test and scan. Your gynac will guide which one based on your case. I would just go fully by what the doctor recommends here.
