Just found out im pregnant and everyone keeps asking how many weeks but honestly i have no idea how its even counted. Is it from last period or conception date? Thoda confused, pls explain.
Its counted from the first day of your last menstrual period. Sounds odd but thats the standard. The early ultrasound adjusts the due date if needed. Mine got changed by a week after scan.
I was so confused by this too. So basically count from last period start date. My EDD shifted after the scan though. Did anyone elses due date change after ultrasound?
They take it from your last period date, and then the scan fine tunes it. Dont try to calculate too much on your own, let the doctor give you the proper due date.
My doc explained it counts from the first day of your last period, not from conception. So thats why they say 40 weeks even though baby actually forms a bit later. The dating scan confirms it more accurately.
