How long after taking folic acid will i get pregnant?
I started folic acid after my doctor said to take it while planning. Somehow I thought it helps fast, but now second month also no positive. Does it take time or is it just for preparation?
Folic acid is not a fertility pill, lets clear that first. It prevents certain birth defects, so you take it before and during early pregnancy. It has nothing to do with how fast you conceive. For that you track ovulation and give it a few cycles.
I thought the same thing in the beginning. My gynac gently explained folic acid is for the baby's health, not to bring on pregnancy. She told me to start it early and just relax about timing. We are still trying, so dont feel alone in the wait.
Folic acid and conceiving are two separate things, i learned that the hard way while reading too much online. It protects the pregnancy, doesnt cause it. With PCOS my timing was unpredictable so i wouldnt put a number on it, please ask your doctor about your own cycle.
I had this same doubt when we started trying. Folic acid doesnt make you pregnant or speed it up, its there to protect the baby once you conceive. Doctors usually say start it at least a month before trying. The getting pregnant part depends on your cycle, not the folic acid.
