How long progesterone supplements during pregnancy?
My gynac started me on progesterone after a small spotting episode in week 7. I forgot to ask till when i need to continue these. For how long did your doc keep you on them? Just want an idea, will confirm with her also.
Usually doctors give progesterone support for the first 3 months until the placenta takes over. Don't stop taking them on your own to save money or effort, just complete the course as prescribed.
I'm still trying to conceive, but my sister had to take these supplements for the first three months of her pregnancy. It's always best to ask your doctor for how long you will need them.
I had to take progesterone support up to my 12th week because of some early spotting. I used to keep an alarm on my phone so I never missed a dose while at work. It really depends on your case, so follow your doctor's timeline.
I was prescribed progesterone tablets during my first trimester, but my doctor stopped them after my 12-week scan. Since every pregnancy is different, only your gynac can tell you when it's safe to stop.
In our house, my MIL was always worried about me taking too many tablets, but my doctor explained that progesterone is very important to support the baby early on. I took it till the end of my first trimester. Always listen to your doctor!
Oh god, those progesterone pills and vaginal gels were such a messy chore! I took them till 12 weeks, and honestly, I don't miss them at all, though now I don't get any sleep anyway! Just stick to what your doc says.
Progesterone support is typically given till 12 to 16 weeks, especially if there's any history of spotting or IVF. However, this is a hormonal supplement, so please don't alter the dosage without your gynecologist's direct instruction.
