How long should i take folic acid during pregnancy?
Been taking folic acid since the start and im now into second trimester. Not sure if I should continue or stop at some point. Will ask gynac too but wanted ur experiences.
I recently delivered and my doctor had me take folic acid from the planning stage till the end of the 3rd month. After that, they usually change the vitamins, so just consult your doctor on the next scan.
Keep your mind positive and trust the journey. Folic acid is generally taken for the first three months to support baby's early growth, but do follow whatever your doctor prescribes with a happy heart.
I totally understand how we want to do everything perfectly for our sweet little babies. Most mothers take it till the 12th week of pregnancy, but do check with your doctor to see what is best for you.
Usually, doctors advise taking folic acid throughout the first trimester, which is the first 3 months. In my family they suggested traditional foods, but I strictly followed my doctor's prescription for this.
My gynac kept me on folic acid for the first 12 weeks, and then switched me to iron and calcium supplements. It's best to take it as long as your doctor advises for your body.
