How long should i take progesterone during pregnancy?
Gynac started me on progesterone support after my positive test. Im 11 weeks now and wondering till when this usually continues. Did your doctor stop it at some point?
I know how scary it is to think about stopping any medication that is keeping your baby safe, the anxiety is totally real. Many moms take it till 12 weeks, some longer. Talk to your gynac and let them reassure you before you make any changes.
Usually, doctors prescribe progesterone support in the first trimester to help the pregnancy settle, often up to 12 weeks. I took it till my 12th week scan, and then my placenta took over. Do check with your doctor before stopping it.
Please, please do not stop taking progesterone on your own. Having had a miscarriage before, I was on strict progesterone support till almost 16 weeks to keep the baby safe. Always follow your gynac's instructions blindly on this.
Because of my PCOS history, my progesterone levels were low, so my gynac kept me on support tablets until the 14th week. It varies from person to person, so please don't stop or change the dose without your doctor's green signal.
Actually, it depends on your body, yaar. I had some spotting in the beginning, so my doctor made me take it till 12 weeks. But some of my friends took it for longer. Just ask your doc, they will tell you the exact time to stop.
