Wait till the day your period is due or a couple days after, then test in the morning. Testing earlier just gives faint confusing lines. I learned this the hard way with my first.
I tested like 5 times too early and drove myself crazy with faint lines. Honestly waiting is so much calmer for your head. Give it a few days past the missed date and you will trust the result more.
