We are trying to conceive this cycle and I keep wondering about the timing of it all. Like does it happen right away or take some days after? Bit confused honestly, would appreciate if someone explains.
I was confused about this too when we started trying. Someone explained the fertile window is the few days around ovulation, mid cycle roughly. We tracked it and that helped. It really isnt about counting days right after, its about ovulation timing.
My doctor explained that sperm can live inside for up to 5 days, so if you have sex a few days before ovulation, fertilisation can happen when the egg releases. Then it takes about another 6-10 days for the embryo to implant. So pregnancy isnt instant.
It depends on when you ovulate, not just the day of sex. Sperm waits up to 5 days. Conception happens around ovulation, and a home test only shows positive after the embryo implants, usually after your missed period. Testing before that is too early.
I used an ovulation tracker app and it made this so clear. The fertile days are about 5 days before and the day of ovulation. Conception can happen anytime in that window after the act. Then wait till missed period to test, earlier gives false results.
