How many days after sex can you test for pregnancy?

We're trying for our first and the waiting is killing me yaar. I just want to know how long i actually have to wait before testing makes any sense. Tell me your experience pls.

My gynac explained that implantation takes around a week or more, so testing right after sex is pointless. She said wait about 2 weeks, basically till your missed period, for hCG to rise enough. A blood test can pick it up slightly earlier.

Dont test the next day, it wont show anything. Give it till your period is actually late. Thats the only reliable time.

Beta just wait around two weeks, simple. Testing too soon only creates tension and confusion. Patience here saves you a lot of crying over faint lines.

I was so impatient and tested way too early, came negative and I felt terrible. Then waited and it was positive. Did anyone else find the waiting part the hardest?
