I am confused about months and weeks because everyone says 9 months but app shows 40 weeks. My due date feels far and I dont understand the counting. How do doctors calculate it?
I tracked mine on an app, it counts 40 weeks from last period date. So basically 280 days give or take. The app showed my due date and updated each week, was really helpful to follow along.
I was confused by this too at first. So it's around 9 months but doctors count it in weeks, total 40. I'm in week 22 now and it really feels long honestly haha.
Full pregnancy is about 280 days, roughly 40 weeks counted from your last period. Both my babies came a little before 40 weeks though. Anywhere around 37 to 40 weeks is considered full term.
My doctor explained it's calculated as 40 weeks from the first day of your last period, so around 9 months and a week. Due dates are an estimate, baby can come a bit before or after.
