I feel nervous before every scan but also wait to see baby. I had dating scan and NT scan, now anomaly scan is due. How many scans are normal in full pregnancy?
Usually around 3-4 main scans for a normal pregnancy, but it can be more if doctor wants to monitor something. Don't worry it's not a fixed rule, your doctor decides based on you. Both my pregnancies had slightly different counts.
I was anxious about over scanning too. My doc reassured me they only do the needed ones and it's safe. So far I've had two and the anomaly scan is next. Following whatever she advises.
My doctor did a few key ones, an early dating scan, the NT scan around 11-13 weeks, the anomaly scan around 18-20 weeks and growth scans in the third trimester. The exact number varied a bit for me based on how things were going. Your gynac will tell you the schedule for your case.
Good to plan for this, scans do add up cost wise. I asked my hospital upfront how many were standard so I could budget. For me it was about 4 main ones. Ask your doctor and the hospital so there's no surprise bills.
